Our Story: Transforming Stray Dog Welfare in Saranda
Founded in 2024, Wet Noses Saranda began as a grassroots effort by a small group of animal lovers who couldn't ignore the plight of stray dogs in our beautiful coastal city. What started as feeding a few hungry dogs has grown into Albania's most comprehensive stray dog rescue operation.
Today, we operate a network of foster homes throughout Saranda, partner with local veterinarians, and work tirelessly to change attitudes toward animal welfare in our community. Our goal isn't just to rescue stray dogs – it's to create a sustainable future where every dog in Saranda has a loving home.
Through education, community outreach, and our adoption program, we've successfully placed over 180 stray dogs into loving families across Albania and Europe, while advocating for spay/neuter programs to address the root causes of the stray dog population in Saranda.

Detailed Process Steps:
- 1. Pick your dog from our available rescues or street dogs
- 2. Bring to Pet Care Veterinary Clinic (Dr. Sheme Cela, Gjergj Arianiti road)
- 3. Complete veterinary care: vaccination, disease testing, microchipping
- 4. Temporary shelter at clinic, your accommodation, or with us
- 5. Albanian Passport issued at the veterinary clinic
- 6. Greek Passport organized by Wet Noses (for EU travel)
- 7. Ready to travel when documentation is complete!
Bonus: Dogs already in our care may have all documentation ready and can travel immediately!
